Prime Video’s upcoming adaptation of Santa Monica Studios’ God of War video game is in the news again.
Following on from the juicy nugget that the series has already been picked up for season 2 comes the news that Shōgun and The boys director Frederick E.O. Toye is onboard to direct the crucial first two episodes of season one.
Toye joins the prolific Ronald D. Moore, who is the series’ showrunner, writer and executive producer on the series.
God of War, from Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, follows the events of the 2018 God of War title in which Kratos finds himself in ancient Norway, steeped in the traditions and mythology of the period.
Following the death of Kratos’ wife Faye, he and his estranged son Atreus set out to scatter her ashes on the highest peak of the Nine Realms. Along the way the pair face many challenges, meet new allies, and face unexpected foes, learning about each other in the process. As Kratos slowly learns to meet his son half way, Atreus discovers what it truly means to be a God.
With pre-production underway in Vancouver, casting for the roles of Kratos and Atreus is now underway.
Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Hermen Hulst, Roy Lee, and Brad Van Arragon. Joe Menosky, Marc Bernardin, Tania Lotia, Ben McGinnis, and Jeff Ketcham also serve as co-executive producers on the series.
More as we have it.
