Sony’s State of Play Delivers a Packed Lineup of Blockbusters

Sony’s latest State of Play showcase did not disappoint, serving up a feast of announcements and extended gameplay reveals across a string of major titles. Highlights included a bloody first look at Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine, a stunning new chapter in the God of War saga, and the return of cult favourites Control (Control Resonant) and Silent Hill (Silent Hill Townfall), plus a few surprises nobody saw coming.

Here’s everything revealed at today’s State of Play.

MARVEL’S WOLVERINE

Sony kicked off the State of Play event today with an extended first look at Marvel’s Wolverine. The Game is a single player action adventure in classic Marvel comic book style, and features Logan taking on a mission that will send him all over the world, in addition to rubbing elbows with a host of familiar Marvel characters. In the extended gameplay clip the Wolverine attempts to extricate a group of frightened mutants from the clutches of an evil organization … with a little help from none other than Jean Grey.

Expect bloody, fluid combat, fast action, and a high concept story.

Marvel’s Wolverine, from Insomniac Games, arrives Sept. 15, 2026.

CONTROL RESONANT

2019’s critically acclaimed action adventure Control now has a sequel. The studio released a new game trailer ahead of the game’s September release, focusing on the game’s action and characters, and including a slew of familiar faces from the original. This time around Dylan Faden takes over as protagonist. In the words of Control Resonant’s Co-Creative Director Mikael Kasurinen “Dylan isn’t an easy character to root for. When he first appeared in Control, he was a monster, a warped being ready to annihilate our reality.

Dylan has never been in control of his own life.

As a child, he was taken by the Federal Bureau of Control and raised inside an institution that tried to dictate every aspect of his life. It ended in tragedy: lives were lost, and he was contained for years. Later, a paranatural force called the Hiss tore through the Oldest House, the Bureau’s headquarters. Dylan was taken over by it, and what followed became the largest paranatural disaster the FBC had ever known. Hundreds of people died. Jesse arrived at the last minute and stopped Dylan and the force inside him. She cleansed him, but he fell into a coma, trapped inside his own mind for years.

Now he’s awake, trying to navigate a world that is unfamiliar to him. Jesse, the only real connection in his life, is missing.

Dylan carries the weight of his past. But he wants to help, and he wants to find his sister. He’s confronted by one crucial question: who is he today?”

Control Resonant, From Remedy Entertainment, arrives on September 24, 2026.
