REMEDY GAMES REVEALS ‘CONTROL RESONANT’ FOR SEPTEMBER RELEASE

Remedy Entertainment has officially announced a release date for Control Resonant, the highly anticipated sequel to its 2019 supernatural hit. In a PlayStation Blog post published today, the studio revealed that the game will launch globally on PlayStation 5 on September 24.

Alongside the release date, Remedy unveiled a brand-new Story Trailer, offering fans their first look at a reality-bending narrative that shifts the spotlight to a new protagonist and marks the return of a fan-favorite character.

A Warped Manhattan and a New Protagonist

Jesse and Dylan Faden

Moving away from the brutalist, shifting corridors of the Federal Bureau of Control’s headquarters, the Oldest House, Control Resonant takes place in a fractured Manhattan. According to developers, the city has been warped by paranatural forces, resulting in impossible architecture, shifting realities, and streets stalked by monstrous entities born from a mysterious new frequency known as “resonance.”

In a major departure from the original game, Jesse Faden is stepping aside as the primary playable character. Instead, players will take control of her brother, Dylan Faden, who serves as the sequel’s sole protagonist.

Dylan, who acted as a primary antagonist in the first game while under the influence of the malevolent Hiss, awakens from a years-long coma to find a world he doesn’t recognize, and discovers that his sister, Jesse, has gone missing. Driven by a desire to find her and redeem himself, Dylan must navigate the warped cityscape using evolving paranatural abilities and a new shapeshifting weapon called the Aberrant.

“The Fadens’ arcs revolve around each other, and that’s what propels their shared story,” the studio shared, noting that while Jesse remains central to the narrative’s overarching mystery, Dylan is the one driving the gameplay forward this time around.

The Return of Doctor Casper Darling

Matthew Porretta returns as Doctor Casper Darling

In addition to the Faden siblings’ ongoing saga, the studio confirmed a major piece of lore that is sure to excite long-time fans: Matthew Porretta will be returning as fan favorite Doctor Casper Darling.

Darling, the eccentric Head of Research for the FBC whose video logs guided players through the supernatural anomalies of the first game, vanished into another dimension just before the events of Control. While details surrounding his exact role in Control Resonant are being kept under wraps, his return suggests that the secrets of the Bureau, and the nature of the resonance plaguing Manhattan, run deeper than ever.
