This week features another round of premieres and finales. We bid adieu to the bombastic Countdown, Prime Video’s 13-episode electric summer thriller. Fans have the finale to look forward to on Wednesday (we’ve seen it in advance; you will not be disappointed!) plus news of a second season, right Prime Video?

Also leaving the slate this week is Dexter: Resurrection on Paramount+. The finale finds Dexter and Harrison facing a final confrontation as everyone faces the consequences of their dark choices.

New to the schedule is The Paper (all 10 episodes) a spin-off to The Office, this time featuring a fly-on-the-wall documentary focusing on a local newspaper. Expect a few familiar faces to put in an appearance, along with all the humor you might expect from the original series.

Paramount+ also debuts NCIS spin-off Tony & Ziva this week, with the first 3 of 10 episodes kicking off on Thursday.

Meanwhile, supernatural mystery comedy Wednesday returns with episodes 5-8 to round out the second season. Will Wednesday learn to master her powers? With Tyler officially in the wind can she prevent her roommate’s death, and what dark secrets can be gleaned from the experiments at Willow Hill?

Sunday sees the debut of Task, starring Mark Ruffalo as an an FBI agent heaing up a Task Force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Tom Pelphrey).

All that and the usual weekly entries from Peacemaker, Alien: Earth, Invasion, Chief of War, Foundation, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and more.

Alien: Earth (FX/Hulu): Season 1 Episode 5, “Emergence” flashes back to the Maginot’s demise, with FX teasing “An outer-space vessel in peril leads to a dangerous reckoning.”

WEDNESDAY

Acapulco (Apple TV+): Season 4, episode 8 “Runnin’ Down a Dream” Maximo surprises Julia, Memo, and Lorena with a road trip to the World Cup. Sara struggles to practice her English before leaving for college.

Countdown (Prime Video): Season 1 episode 13. In the Season One Finale, “Your People Are in Danger” the team zeroes in on a suspect and moves for a take-down… but soon find one of their own in grave danger.

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf (Prime Video): Season 1, episode 4 “The Sound of Guns”. As pressure builds to stop the Khalid Network’s delivery of Molar’s bearings, Ben’s team begins to crack. In Geneva, Haverford’s Iranian asset struggles to juggle family, country, and a double life working with U.S. intelligence.

Wednesday (Netflix): Season 2, episodes 5-8. Wednesday returns with the second half of Season 2.

THURSDAY

NCIS: Tony & Ziva (Paramount+): Episodes 1 “No Country is Safe”, 2 “No Friend of Mine”, and 3 “Cover Story”.

Peacemaker (HBO Max): Season 2, episode 3 “Another Rick Up My Sleeve” As A.R.G.U.S. intensifies its pursuit of Peacemaker, Chris grapples with the emotional fallout of his actions in an alternate reality, while the 11th Street Kids face new challenges and unexpected alliances in their fight to protect him.

The Paper (Peacock): The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch in the Emmy Award-winning series “The Office” find a new subject when they discover a historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it.

All ten episodes premiere on September 4.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Paramount+): Season 3, episode 9 “Terrarium”. When Ortegas crash lands on a deadly toxic moon, where the chances of survival are slim to none, she finds herself stranded and forced to challenge her most closely held beliefs in order to survive.

FRIDAY

Chief of War (Apple TV+): Season 1, Episode 7 “Day of Spilled Brains.” A disagreement erupts about how to deal with the arrival of outsiders.

Foundation (Apple TV+): Season 3, Episode 9 “The Paths that Choose Us”. Gaal confronts the power of the Mule’s conversions. Dusk resorts to drastic measures. Demerzel searches for clarity about the future.

Invasion (Apple TV+): Season 3, Episode 3 “Infinitas”. Aneesha and Clark’s peaceful life is upended by a visit from Trevante and Jamila. Mitsuki and Nikhil search for answers at a portal base.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood (Starz): Season 1, Episode 6 “Birthright”. Henry continues to look for Julia until a new discovery threatens to end his search.

The Rainmaker (Peacock): Season 1, Episode 4. When Sarah inadvertently reveals confidential information about Donny Ray’s death, Rudy must make a tough decision between his girlfriend and his client. Melvin’s encounter with Jackie takes a dangerous turn. Kelly’s dangerous situation comes to a head.  

SUNDAY

Dexter: Resurrection (Paramount+ with Showtime): Episode 10 “And Justice for All…” In the Season Finale Dexter and Harrison face a final confrontation as Charley’s loyalty to Prater is tested, forcing all to confront the consequences of their dark choices in a climactic end to the season.

Task (HBO): Episode 1, Season 1. From the creator of Mare of Easttown comes Task, a gritty new cop drama starring Mark Ruffalo. Set in the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, an FBI agent (Ruffalo) heads a Task Force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Tom Pelphrey).

After scaling back his role in the Bureau and still reeling from a family tragedy, Special Agent Tom Brandis reluctantly returns to the field to head a new, relatively inexperienced team to investigate a string of robberies. Following his brother’s death, Robbie Prendergrast earns extra cash for his family by ripping off drug dealers – but a bad tip upends his delicate balance.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (AMC): In episode 1, Season 3 “Costa Da Morte” Daryl and Carol are left stranded in Spain after a shipwreck, where they must confront a tyrannical regime trading young women for protection, and forcing them to battle old demons and new threats in their relentless quest to return home.
