Everything comes to a head in Wednesday’s finale episode of Prime Video’s Countdown. The steamer teases that the hour will see the team moving in for the takedown but not everyone is safe.
If you’re looking for just a smidge more information — spoilers if you will — then you’ve come to the right place. We’ve seen the finale a little early, and have some nuggets to give away. (We ask that you refrain from taking screenshots of this article and sharing them on social media as a courtesy to those who do not want to be spoiled ahead of Wednesday’s airing.)
While we’re outright forbidden from revealing certain specifics (i.e. the major nuts and bolts of the episode), we can tell you that:
Opposites Do Not Attract!
The finale finds Oliveras and Meachum intent on getting on without each other in their personal lives, but it clearly isn’t working out. Oliveras in particular is having trouble with Handsome Doctor Julio’s neat and organized way of life (we didn’t say the word boring but we know you were thinking it), which is so at odds with her free-wheeling nature, and unpredictable work hours. Meanwhile, Meachum’s new relationship lacks the depth and intimacy he secretly craves.
Although Meachum recognizes what he wants and isn’t afraid to say it (or at least pretend to joke about it but actually secretly really mean it), Oliveras is struggling big time this week.
Fans of this duo can expect a whole lot of sexual tension as the finale ramps up the Will They / Won’t They dial to 11.
New Friends Old Habits
Remember last week when we all thought that maybe Evan’s sister Molly might have turned a new leaf? Well that leaf seems to have been blown away in the wind by her new drinking buddy, a man with a rap sheet as long as a CVS receipt.
No Pressure, No Diamonds
This team is used to working long hours without thanks, so it’s always nice to see someone recognize their efforts on occasion. This week Fitz gets a word of special thanks from someone higher up. It’s almost enough to shut him up!
Run!
Remember that awful moment in episode 11 when Todd stole his wife’s dog Penny and forced her to run across a wide open field towards the safety of a forest before he trained his sniper rifle on her and shot her? It was a pretty horrible moment that helped viewers cement their opinion of Todd and his state of mind in no uncertain terms. Now imagine that moment replayed in the finale, except it’s not Penny in Todd’s sights this time.
Stepping up his Game
Until now, our latest Big Bad, Todd, hasn’t exactly been giving us Volchek vibes (maybe I’m just missing those chunky-knit coordinates?) Yes we know he has a manifesto, and designs on the Governor. And maybe the Prez, if he can get a two-for, but apart from his quiet smarts, and his animal abuse, Todd has been — dare we say it — a little lackluster in the evil madman department? Until now.
The finale sees Todd’s plan moving into its final stages, and along with it, a series of clever moves and decisions that elevate this player from C- to B+ We’re loath to give him an A grade as no one can replace Boris (and his collection of disposable henchmen) in our hearts. Expect to be surprised!
Countdown’s Season One finale airs Wednesday, Sept. 3 on Prime Video.
