It’s another week of premieres and finales as we inch out way towards fall’s full TV schedule.

Wednesday sees Hostage, a new 5 episode limited series, landing on Netflix. The story follows the aftermath of the kidnapping of the British prime minister’s husband, and the blackmailing of the visiting French president, two events in which both political leaders both face unimaginable choices.

Meanwhile, the irreverent and action-packed Peacemaker returns for Season 2 on HBO MAX with an alternate timeline story, while Invasion Season 3 from Apple TV+ questions of our diverse team of international heroes can come together to defeat the Apex aliens.

Then on Friday, a new animated comedy “Long Story Short” from the creators of Bojack Horseman kicks off on Netflix.

Leaving the schedule this week is Invasion (look for the tense finale on Friday), in which our characters come together for a final confrontation.

Alien Earth (FX/Huu): Season 1, episode 3 “Metamorphosis” sees the The team returning home with unexpected cargo. Meanwhile, an unsettling experiment occurs, and a new talent is discovered.

WEDNESDAY

Acapulco (Apple TV+): Season 4, episode 6 “Eso Me Enseño Mama.” To console Sara, Maximo shares a childhood story about Nora navigating adversity.

Countdown (Prime Video): Season 1, episode 11. “Run”. Shepherd works to decipher the manifesto recovered at Cabin 6 while the rest of the team pursues a suspect on the run.

Hostage (Netflix): All 5 episodes. When the British prime minister’s husband is kidnapped and the visiting French president is blackmailed, the two political leaders both face unimaginable choices.

Forced into a fierce rivalry where their political futures, and lives, might hang in the balance, can they work together to uncover the plot that threatens them both? Starring in Hostage are Suranne Jones, Julie Delpy, Ashley Thomas, Corey Mylchreest, and Lucian Msamati.

THURSDAY

Peacemaker (HBO MAX): Season 2, episode 1 “The Ties that Grind.” Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this cool new discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Paramount+): Season 3, episode 7 “What is Starfleet?” Pike and his crew face unwanted scrutiny from a probing journalist while helping a war-torn planet.

FRIDAY

Chief of War (Apple TV+): Season 1, episode 5 “The Race of the Gods.” Kaʻiana returns with a warning, and a dangerous competition will determine his fate in Kamehameha’s council. Keōua sends a message.

Foundation (Apple TV+): Season 3, episode 7 “Foundation’s End.” Chaos and destruction rain down on New Terminus. Back on Trantor, Dusk and Quent unite to assess the state of the galaxy.

Invasion (Apple TV+): Season 3, episode 1. “The Ones We Leave Behind.” The series follows an alien invasion through different perspectives around the world. In a new 10-episode third season, those perspectives collide for the first time, as our main characters are brought together to work as a team on a critical mission to infiltrate the alien mothership.

The ultimate apex aliens have finally emerged, rapidly spreading their deadly tendrils across our planet. It will take all our heroes working together, using all their experience and expertise, to save our species. New relationships are formed, old relationships are challenged and even shattered as an international cast of characters must become a team before it’s too late. 

Season 3 stars returning cast members Golshifteh Farahani, Shioli Kutsuna, Shamier Anderson, India Brown, Shane Zaza and Enver Gjokaj, and introduces new series regular Erika Alexander.

Long Story Short (Netflix): All 10 episodes of season one. Animated comedy from the creator of Bojack Horseman. The series focuses on one family, over time. Jumping through the years, we follow the Schwooper siblings from childhood to adulthood and back again, chronicling their triumphs, disappointments, joys, and compromises.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood (Starz): Season 1, episode 4. “A Soldier’s Heart.” Henry tackles a challenging assignment in his own way. Ellen learns some concerning information about the family into which she’s expected to marry.

The Rainmaker (Peacock): Season 1, episode 2 “The Rule Book.” Fresh out of law school, Rudy Baylor (Callaghan) goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond (Slattery) as well as his law school girlfriend (Iseman). Rudy, along with his boss and her disheveled paralegal, uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client’s son.

SUNDAY

Dexter: Resurrection (Paramount+ with Showtime): In Episode 8, “The Kill Room Where it Happens” Dexter redirects his attention to step up as a father; Claudette digs into Miami Metro’s past, inching closer to the truth and Prater uncovers information that could put Harrison in danger.

The Institute (MGM+): In the season finale “Fight” (episode 8) Our characters come together for a final confrontation with unimaginable consequences.
