Monday, August 11 to Sunday, August 17
August sees more series premieres and finales continue to rock the TV slate.
This week Alien Earth, a new scifi series based in the Aliens universe debuts 2 back-to-back premiere episodes on Hulu.
Then on Wednesday, Butterfly, a tense new spy drama starring Daniel Dae Kim and Reina Hardesty as a father-daughter duo, drops (all episodes) on Prime Video. Also on Wednesday, the Countdown gang and Volchek are set for an explosive and violent confrontation.
On Thursday, zombie drama series Revival ends its freshman season, while in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, it’s Kirk’s first day in the Captain’s chair. What could go wrong?
Friday sees the return of Apple TV+’s Jason Momoa-starring Chief of War, along with a long awaited reunion on Foundation. Meanwhile Julia is forced to make an impossible choice on Starz’ Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
And on Sunday, Dexter and The Institute continue to bring the unsettling vibes in new episodes.

TUESDAY
Alien Earth (Hulu): Two episode series premiere. When a spaceship crash lands on Earth in the series premiere “Neverland” a sister searches for her brother amidst an unexpected alien threat.
Then in episode 2, “Mr. October” tensions rise between rival corporations, a reunion takes place, and a secret is revealed.

WEDNESDAY
Acapulco (Apple TV+): In “In the Air Tonight” Maximo invites Don Pablo to a family dinner in hopes of reconciling. Sara debates her college acceptance. Julia and Nora clash.
Butterfly (Prime Video): All 6 episodes. David Jung (Daniel Dae Kim), a Korean-American man who faked his death nine years ago, confronts his past when his daughter Rebecca (Reina Hardesty) now working as an assassin for the private intelligence agency Caddis, is sent to kill him.
Countdown (Prime Video): “The Muzzle Pile”. The task force violently confronts Volchek to save a city of millions. As the smoke clears and Meachum works to resolve his medical issues, a new threat emerges from Secret Service agent Ryan Fitzgerald.

THURSDAY

And Just Like That… (HBO): Episode 12. Series finale! Carrie and friends continue to navigate the complicated reality of life, love and relationships in New York City.
Bob’s Burgers (Fox): In “InsomniBob” insomnia sends Bob on a creative spree in the kitchen, but at what cost?
The Great North (Fox): In “Anchor Ham Adventure” Ham gets embroiled in the cutthroat world of local weather. Meanwhile, Judy and Moon pursue an assassin.
Revival (Syfy): Season Finale! In “Rend the Veil” Dana and Em uncover the horrifying truth about Revival Day, but at an unimaginable cost that changes the Cypress family and Wausau forever.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Paramount+): “The Sehlat Who Ate Its Tail.” Lieutenant Commander James Kirk’s first day in the Captain’s chair of the U.S.S. Farragut takes a disastrous turn when the Enterprise is captured by a deadly Scavenger Ship. But the alien menace is not exactly what it seems…
FRIDAY
Chief of War (Apple TV+): In “City of Plowers” a dangerous power struggle emerges in the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi. Kamehameha wrestles with his new responsibility. Kaʻiana searches for Tony.
Foundation (Apple TV+): In “The Shape of Time” a long-awaited reunion turns violent. Day looks for Song. On New Terminus, the Vault opens — and the Mule takes aim.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood (Starz): In episode 3, “School of the Moon”, as the oath-taking ceremony to determine who will be Laird of Clan MacKenzie approaches, Ellen hatches a new plan to protect herself and her family and Julia is forced to make an impossible choice.

The Rainmaker (USA Network): Series premiere. Rudy Baylor and girlfriend Sarah Plankmore are thrilled to be starting at top law firm Tinley Britt. When Rudy’s first day spirals out of control and forces him to take a job at the less reputable J. Lyman Stone, they end up on opposite sides of an important wrongful death case involving Leo Drummond’s most important client.
Based on the best-selling novel by John Grisham, Rudy Baylor, who is fresh out of law school, goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo Drummond as well as his law school girlfriend, Sarah. Rudy, along with his boss, Bruiser, and her disheveled paralegal, Deck, uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client’s son.
The cast includes Milo Callaghan, John Slattery, Lana Parrilla, Madison Iseman, P.J. Byrne, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs and Robyn Cara.
Smoke (Apple TV+): In Episode 9 “Mirror Mirror” a desperate Calderone calls in a favor. Gudsen scrambles for control, and a massive blaze stokes a make-or-break showdown.
SUNDAY
Dexter: Resurrection (Paramount+ with Showtime): In Episode 7, “Course Correction” at a remote retreat hosted by Prater, Dexter discovers unsettling information about Gareth. Meanwhile, Harrison contemplates his future and his growing sense of justice driven by Elsa’s struggles with her abusive landlord
The Institute (MGM+): In episode 7 “Hide” Luke and Tim go on a desperate search for help as Sigsby uses all of her formidable assets in a last-ditch attempt to keep the Institute’s secrets.
