The zaniest sci-fi comedy series of all time returns for a victory lap of 4 final episodes on August 25. (We mean Upload on Prime Video, just in case you weren’t sure!)
The weird, wild, and heartfelt comedy series from Emmy-winning writer Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation, King of the Hill), has followed the near-future mis-adventures of Nathan Brown (Robbie Amell) who cheats death by being uploaded to Lakeview, a virtual paradise where every whim can be satisfied — so long as the family and friends of the dear departed can continue to pay.
The only problem is that Nathan’s death feels suspiciously premature, and he was uploaded against his will by clingy and insecure girlfriend Ingrid (Allegra Edwards). When Nathan begins a new relationship with Nora (Andy Allo), an afterlife customer care assistant — or angel, as they are called — he soon realizes that he will have to keep Ingrid in the dark, and discover who may have wanted him dead, if he is to survive the ever after.
Choc full of weird and wacky characters over the seasons — both in the real world and Nathan’s virtual Lakeview prison — Upload has run the gamut of outlandish storylines. In the show’s most recent story arc, there are two Nathans, one physical and one virtual, with both working to bring evil corporation Horizen’s crimes to light. However when one Nathan is killed, the remaining one must break the bad news.
But will it be Nora or Ingrid shedding tears over her loss?
Thankfully, the wait to find out who lived is almost over. Actually, the trailer below pretty much spoils the surprise so spoiler alert if you want to find out by watching the finale.
Prime Video teases that in the upcoming four-part series finale event, sentient AI rapidly turns evil, threatening to wipe out Lakeview (and the world!).
On top of greedy executives, lingering mysteries, plus heartbreak in VR and IRL, our characters are tested like never before. The only way they can get through it all and save humanity from deletion is by teaming up one last time.
Upload returns Monday, August 25, 2025 on Prime Video.
