Netflix’s April slate contains some choice picks across a number of genres.
The critically acclaimed and multi-award-winning comedy drama BEEF returns for a second season of mayhem on April 16. This time around Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan take over from Steven Yeun and Ali Wong. The pair star as Joshua Martín (Isaac), and Lindsay Crane-Martín (Mulligan), a couple whose marriage is unravelling in a most alarming manner.
Schitt’s Creek star Dan Levy also stars in Big Mistakes, alongside Kim Possible’s Taylor Ortega. The two play deeply inept siblings who are pulled into the world of organized crime in this family comedy drama.
Also on the comedy front is the Kate Hudson-starring Running Point, which returns for a second season on April 23.
Meanwhile, the highly anticipated Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 animated series also debuts on April 23. Voiced by a new cast the new series goes back in time to 1985 when our heroes were younger and cuter versions of themselves — but still able to take on an entity or three from the Upside Down.
Finally, April 30 sees the debut of Man on Fire. This action thriller, based on the book series by A.J. Quinnell, tells the story of Special Forces agent and PTSD sufferer John Creasy.

Big Mistakes (Season 1, April 9)

Big Mistakes is a new comedic family saga within a high-stakes crime thriller. The series follows Nicky (Dan Levy) and Morgan (Taylor Ortega), two deeply incapable siblings who are in over their heads when a misguided theft for their dying grandmother accidentally pulls them into the world of organized crime. Blackmailed into increasingly dangerous assignments, they clumsily fail upwards, sinking deeper into chaos they’re ill-equipped to handle.
Big Mistakes is from creator/showrunner/executive producer/star Dan Levy. In addition to Levy and Ortega, the series also stars Laurie Metcalf, Abby Quinn, Boran Kuzum, Jack Innanen, Elizabeth Perkins, Mark Ivanir, Ilia Volok, Jacob Gutierrez, Joe Barbara and Darren Goldstein
BEEF (Season 2, April 16)

BEEF returns with a new cast and a new “beef,” as a Gen-Z couple witnesses an alarming fight between their Millennial boss and his wife. Newly-engaged Ashley Miller (Cailee Spaeny) and Austin Davis (Charles Melton), both lower-level staff at a country club, become entangled in the unraveling marriage of their General Manager, Joshua Martín (Oscar Isaac), and his wife, Lindsay Crane-Martín (Carey Mulligan).
Through favors and coercion, both couples vie for the approval of the elitist club’s billionaire owner, Chairwoman Park (Youn Yuh-jung), who struggles to manage her own scandal involving her second husband, Doctor Kim (Song Kang-ho).
Running Point (Season 2, April 23)

Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) is no longer the surprise choice to lead the Los Angeles Waves, she’s the one everyone is watching. With the franchise finally rebounding after last year’s scandal, Isla is determined to prove she’s not just keeping the seat warm for her brother Cam (Justin Theroux). What she doesn’t know is that Cam is quietly maneuvering behind the scenes to reclaim his post, turning every misstep into ammunition. As she tries to balance the pressure of running a franchise with devoting time to her personal life, every decision on and off the court counts. To survive the family power plays and the scrutiny of the board, she’ll have to rip up last season’s game plan and come up with a whole new playbook if she wants to close out the season on top. From executive producers Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen, season two of Running Point raises the stakes, deepens the family drama, and finds even more comedy in what it takes to run a modern sports empire.
Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 (Season 1, April 23)

Return to Hawkins with Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, an exciting new animated series from showrunner Eric Robles and executive producers the Duffer Brothers. In the winter of 1985, snow blankets the town and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading. Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened. Could it be from the Upside Down? From the depths of Hawkins Lab? Or from somewhere else entirely? Our heroes must race to solve this mystery and save Hawkins in this new story set in the Stranger Things universe.
Man on Fire (Season 1, April 30)

Based on A.J. Quinnell’s book series, Man on Fire tells the story of John Creasy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Watchmen, Ambulance). Once a high functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations, Creasy is now plagued with intense PTSD. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But, before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.
