Christmas comes early for Remedy Entertainment fans this year. The boundary-pushing studio revealed Control Resonant, set for a 2026 release, at last night’s 2025 Game Awards.

A sequel to 2019’s critically acclaimed and multi-award winning Control, this new title sees players take control of Jesse Faden’s sinister sibling Dylan in a a third-person, open-ended, action-RPG that’s set in a modern but terrifying version of Manhattan ravaged by paranatural forces.

While Dylan was Control’s antagonist, this time around he’s the one searching for a missing sibling, communicating with the mysterious Board, and hoping to find a dollop of redemption along the way. Although sporting an intriguing FBC ‘chip’ on the back of his neck, as can be seen by the eagle-eyed in the official trailer below, we are left to wonder just how much autonomy Dylan’s former captors have actually afforded him.

Control Resonant offers fans the familiar environment bending, reality shifting, destructible landscape we’ve come to associate with Remedy’s modus, However the game feels like a true evolution of its predecessor, allowing payers to freely roam massive zones across the warped city, each offering branching mission sets, different enemy encounters, and key events that can be approached in any order.

Meanwhile, a deep progression system that encourages multiple combat styles (including stealthy precision, manipulation, or just straight up brute force), upgradeable weapons, abilities, and buffs, and unpredictable combat makes Resonant feel truly fresh and inviting.

While Control’s Jesse Faden made use of the Service Weapon, an Object of Power capable of morphing into different weapons on demand, Dylan’s weapon of choice is the formidable Aberrant — a a heavy two-handed hammer that can break apart to create dual blades.

“Combined with Dylan’s evolving powers, it creates fast, physical, and unpredictable combat that feels distinctly Control,” Remedy’s co-creative director Mikael Kasurinen told Playstation.
