Before Manifest, before Lost, before The Returned, and before most other scifi shows in recent memory featuring disappearing people who then mysteriously reappeared later … there was The 4400 (“the forty-four hundred”), a series about 4,400 people who mysteriously vanished from existence over several decades, starting in 1946, only to suddenly reappear in 1999 at the exact locations of their disappearance with no memory of what happened during their abductions.
Running for four seasons on USA Network in the United States and Sky One in the United Kingdom, the much-loved series soon earned its way to cult classic status.
And now, thanks to the folks at the CW, we get the chance to see it all over again, as the Network gives a green light today to a reboot of this classic series.
From the CW: “As the government races to analyze the potential threat and contain the story, the 4400 themselves must grapple with the fact that they’ve been returned with a few… upgrades, and the increasing likelihood that they were all brought back now for a specific reason.”
From CBS Studios, The 4400 is written by executive producer Ariana Jackson (Riverdale, UnREAL). Anna Fricke and Laura Terry are set to executive produce.
The news comes follows the CW’s recent renewal of 12 shows for the 2021/22 Primetime TV season.
