There’s a suitably spine-tingling stretch of TV as we barrel toward Halloween this week, with supernatural chills from IT: Welcome to Derry lighting up HBO, the monster-slaying saga of The Witcher unleashing its full fourth season on Netflix, and a nail-biting finale for Only Murders in the Building capping off Hulu’s mystery marathon.

Broadcast staples like the One Chicago block and more procedural powerhouses keep the TV pulse beating this week with a number of Halloween-themed episodes, while Apple TV airs the Season 5 finale of Slow Horses (the show has already been renewed for Seasons 6 and 7). Meanwhile Slow Horses author Mick Herron has another book adaptation landing on Apple TV this week in the form of mystery thriller Down Cemetery Road.

MONDAY

Down Cemetery Road (Apple TV): Series Premiere, episodes 1 & 2

When a house explodes in a quiet Oxford suburb and a girl disappears in the aftermath, neighbor Sarah Trafford (Ruth Wilson) becomes obsessed with finding her and enlists the help of private investigator Zoë Boehm (Emma Thompson). Zoë and Sarah suddenly find themselves in a complex conspiracy that reveals that people long believed dead are still among the living, while the living are fast joining the dead.

Episode 1 “Almost True” — A catastrophic event upends South Oxford. Sarah grows suspicious of the emergency response. While investigating, she encounters Zoë Boehm.

Episode 2 “A Kind of Grief” — Zoë goes digging for answers as Sarah starts to spiral. Hamza is under pressure to keep a lid on the crisis.
