The 2025 Emmy Awards nominations are officially in!

Setting out to honor the best of TV (airing between June 1, 2024, and May 31, 2025), the The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, are scheduled for September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+

Leading the pack this year is critical darling Severance from Apple TV+. The show secured an impressive 27 nominations, including nods for Outstanding Drama Series. The surreal workplace thriller, renewed for a third season back in March, has captivated audiences with its unique narrative and standout performances, positioning it as a frontrunner.

Close behind is HBO’s The Penguin with 24 nominations, a gritty Batman spin-off that has made waves in the Limited Series category with its dark storytelling and strong ensemble cast, including a first-time nod for Colin Farrell.

Apple TV+ also dominates the comedy category with The Studio, tying the record for the most nominations in a single year for a comedy series with 23 nods, matching The Bear’s haul from 2024. The satirical Hollywood series, featuring Seth Rogen and a guest appearance by Martin Scorsese, who earned his first Emmy nomination, highlights the platform’s growing influence.

The White Lotus, another HBO hit, follows with 23 nominations, continuing its dominance in the drama supporting categories with a lineup including Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, and Walton Goggins.

This year’s nominations reflect a mix of established shows and fresh faces. Netflix’s Adolescence, a four-part drama about a 13-year-old boy accused of murder, earned 13 nominations, with 15-year-old Owen Cooper making history as the youngest nominee ever for Supporting Actor in a Limited Series. His potential win could mark him as the youngest male acting Emmy winner.

Veteran actors also represent this year, with Harrison Ford, at 83, receiving his first Emmy nod for Shrinking, and Kathy Bates, 77, becoming the oldest nominee for Lead Actress in a Drama for Matlock.

The diversity of platforms is evident, with HBO Max leading overall nominations at 142, followed by Netflix with 120 and Apple TV+ with 81.

Newcomers like The Pitt and Paradise join legacy contenders such as Abbott Elementary, Hacks, and Only Murders in the Building in the comedy race, while dramas like The Last of Us and the excellent Slow Horses maintain their strong presence.

Notable snubs include Squid Game, Andor, and Interview with the Vampire, sparking discussions among fans.

Final voting concludes on August 27, with the 2025 Emmys (hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze) taking place on September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.
