Following a slew of fake AI-generated videos over the weekend, the real teaser trailer for Squid Game’s third and final season is finally here, courtesy of Netflix, and its even weirder than any artificial mind could conjure.
The show returns on June 27 with an as yet undisclosed number of episodes to round out the show’s third and final season.
Netflix teases that following Season 2’s devastating cliffhanger, Season 3 thrusts Gi-hun (Player 456) back into the brutal heart of the games, determined to dismantle them once and for all.
Still haunted by the betrayal and loss of his closest ally, Jung-bae (Player 390), Gi-hun faces new perils — including the Front Man, who shockingly infiltrated their rebellion disguised as Player 001.
There’s a lot packed into the teaser including a giant gumball machine that dispenses red and blue balls to the final players — a hint we’ll see friends and family separated onto opposing teams in the final episodes.
Meanwhile, Gi-hun is returned to his friends inside a coffin, and if you stick around until the closing seconds you’ll also hear a baby’s cries, a possible hint that Jun-hee ‘s (Player 222) hidden pregnancy might have been further along than we all suspected.
Netflix teases that favorite and familiar faces are all set to return including The Front Man, detective Hwang Jun-ho, and players Myung-gi (Player 333), Dae-ho (Player 388), Hyun-ju (Player 120), Yong-sik (Player 007), Geum-ja (Player 149), Jun-hee (Player 222), Min-su (Player 125), Nam-gyu (Player 124), and the pink guard No-eul.
And of course, Hwang Dong-hyuk, who made history at the 74th Primetime Emmys becoming the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, returns to helm the series as director, writer, and producer.
Squid Game stars Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-jun, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Jo Yuri, Lee David, and Roh Jae-won among its ensemble cast.
Get ready for the premiere of Squid Game Season 3 on June 27, exclusively on Netflix.
