in a thrilling announcement for horror gaming fans, Konami has confirmed a remake of the iconic Silent Hill is currently in development, with Bloober Team, the developers behind the Silent Hill 2 remake, at the helm.

Although rumored for some months now, the news officially broke today during Konami’s Press Start livestream on June 12, 2025. While details remain scarce, the confirmation of this project marks another significant step in the revitalization of a beloved franchise.

The Konami presentation highlighted the developer’s two biggest upcoming releases — Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Silent Hill f. Afterwards, Konami announced a new Silent Hill Game from Bloober Team, stopping shy of revealing the game is in fact a remake of Silent Hill 1.

While some fans may have been hoping for Silent Hill 3, following Bloober’s creative and commercial success with Silent Hill 2, it makes more sense narratively, at least, for the studio to return to the first game before tackling its direct sequel, Silent Hill 3.

The original Silent Hill, released in 1999 for PlayStation, is widely regarded as a cornerstone of the survival horror genre. Its haunting atmosphere, psychological depth, and unforgettable narrative about Harry Mason’s search for his missing daughter in the fog-shrouded town of Silent Hill set a benchmark for horror games.

The Press Start livestream also gave a passing nod to another Silent Hill project, Silent Hill: Townfall, which has been in development since 2022 but remains shrouded in mystery still.

The focus on multiple Silent Hill titles underscores Konami’s commitment to reviving the franchise, with Bloober Team, a proven pair of safe hands, playing a central role.
