With all the attention on Capcom’s Resident Evil: Requiem and Konami & Bloober Team’s next Silent Hill collab this week, you may have missed The Chinese Room’s latest stealth drop.

The developer’s critically acclaimed psychological horror, Still Wakes the Deep, is set to expand its icy narrative with a new story DLC titled Siren’s Rest, set to launch, seemingly out of nowhere, on June 18, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

This surprise expansion, priced at €12.99/$12.99, promises to plunge players back into the haunting world of the Beira D oil rig, offering fresh scares and deeper insights into the catastrophic events that took place in the 2024 game.

Set in the 80’s, and eleven years after the harrowing events of the original, Siren’s Rest shifts the perspective from Caz to Mhairi (Lois Chimimba, The velveteen Rabbit, Still Up), who alongside a crew of investigators, descend into the abyss of the North Sea to uncover the truth about what really happened in 1975.

The expansion introduces a fully submerged underwater setting, a stark contrast to the rig’s precarious (mostly) above-water environments in the base game. Players will face new survival mechanics, including managing light and oxygen, as they navigate the sunken remnants of the Beira D’s claustrophobic environment.

New tools such as the cutting torch, crowbar, and camera are nice additions to the expansion too, facilitating Mhairi to piece together the crew’s fate through mementos, photographs, and more, and putting to rest any previous criticisms regarding a dearth of tools and objects for our protagonist Caz to interact with in the base game.

Siren’s Rest retains the first-person narrative horror style that made Still Wakes the Deep a standout title in 2024.

The DLC, written by Sagar Beroshi, is expected to deliver 1-2 hours of content, making it a compact but nonetheless intense addition to the game’s universe.
