The Next Entry in the Hit Paranormal Action Series is Coming Sooner Than Expected

Fans of Remedy Entertainment’s Control may have to wait too much longer for the next chapter. The developer has confirmed that Control: Resonant, the highly anticipated sequel to the acclaimed 2019 title, is scheduled to launch in 2026, with a more specific release window now speculated from recent filings from research equity research firm Inderes.

Originally announced at The Game Awards 2025, Control: Resonant expands the Control universe with a fresh protagonist and larger, more open-ended gameplay. Unlike the original, which followed Federal Bureau of Control Director Jesse Faden, Resonant stars Dylan Faden, her younger brother, as he’s deployed into a paranormally warped version of Manhattan to confront reality-bending threats.

Per Inderes, Remedy’s latest financial disclosures indicate that the game is targeting a late second quarter 2026 release — likely in May or June — offering players an action-RPG experience that pushes the series’ signature supernatural combat and storytelling in bold new directions.

However, Inderes’ report is not a Remedy press release, but a third-party equity research document published for investors. As yet, Remedy has publicly stated that only a general 2026 release window for Control: Resonant is confirmed. More specific timing (like “Q2 2026”) was labeled speculation by the company’s communications director in recent social media posts.

Control: Resonant is set to debut on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (via Steam and the Epic Games Store), and Mac (via Steam and the App Store). The game marks a significant expansion of the franchise, blending Remedy’s paranormal action roots with deeper RPG elements and an expansive, explorative world built around a reality-warped cityscape.

The shift in protagonist and setting is more than cosmetic. Resonant features a revamped combat focus and progression system, and Remedy has emphasized that newcomers to the Control universe can jump into Resonant without prior experience with the original game. At the same time, returning players will find narrative and thematic threads tying back to Jesse’s journey.

Co-financed and co-produced with Annapurna Pictures, Control: Resonant represents Remedy’s biggest project to date, with creative director Mikael Kasurinen describing it as an ambitious evolution of their paranatural action gameplay. With a 2026 release window now taking form, fans can look forward to the next surreal, reality-bending chapter in one of gaming’s most inventive franchises.
