MGM+ has officially renewed its flagship sci-fi horror series, FROM, for a fifth and final season. The announcement comes as the network’s most-watched original series returns for its fourth season, which premiered yesterday, April 19. The fifth season is slated to begin production in Halifax, Nova Scotia, later this year, with a projected premiere date in 2027.
Created by John Griffin, the series has served as a cornerstone for the MGM+ linear and streaming platforms. The narrative follows the residents of a localized anomaly, a town that traps all who enter and subjects them to nocturnal threats from vampire-like monsters.
The decision to conclude the series with Season 5 aligns with the creative vision of the production team, which includes showrunner Jeff Pinkner and director Jack Bender.
In a joint statement, Pinkner, Griffin, and Bender confirmed that the final season would focus on resolving the central mysteries that have driven the plot since its 2022 debut. The producers noted that the renewal allows the creative team to see the story to its intended conclusion, promising that long-standing questions will be addressed in the final episodes.
Michael Wright, head of MGM+, characterized the series as the pinnacle of the network’s original programming strategy. Wright noted that the decision to greenlight the final chapter was a response to the show’s consistent performance and dedicated audience base. The series has maintained a high production value throughout its run and remains a key international asset, with Paramount Global Content Distribution handling sales outside of the domestic market.
The ensemble cast is led by Harold Perrineau, who also serves as an executive producer. The series also stars Catalina Sandino Moreno, Eion Bailey, Hannah Cheramy, and Simon Webster, among others.
The production is a collaboration between MGM+ Studios and several prominent banners, including Midnight Radio and the Russo Brothers’ AGBO.
Beyond Griffin, Pinkner, and Bender, executive producers for the series include Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, Scott Rosenberg, Mike Larocca, and Lindsay Dunn.
Adrienne Erickson serves as co-executive producer.
With the fourth season currently airing, the final season will bring an end to a five-year production cycle for the network’s top-performing drama.
