13 years after cult classic Fringe was cancelled by the Fox Network, the boundaries between worlds are blurring once again.
All 5 seasons of sci-fi series Fringe are set to stream for free on Pluto TV, starting March 1 2026. The date marks a poetic homecoming for a show that famously predicted a pivotal “future” set in this very year.
Originally airing on Fox from 2008 to 2013, Fringe followed the unlikely trio of FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv, The Last of Us, Territory) the eccentric and formerly institutionalized “mad scientist” Dr. Walter Bishop (John Noble, Severance, Elementary) and his estranged, cynical son Peter (Joshua Jackson, Doctor Odyssey, The Karate Kid: Legends). The team was guided by the no nonsense Phillip Broyles (the late Lance Reddick).
Together, they formed the Fringe Division, a task force charged with investigating The Pattern, a series of unexplained phenomena involving telepathy, dark matter, and a burgeoning war between parallel universes. While the series was often an underdog in the ratings during its initial run, it has since cemented its legacy as one of the most sophisticated and emotionally resonant genre shows of the 21st century.
The timing of this re-release is particularly resonant for the Fringe fanbase. During the show’s third season, the narrative jumped forward to a dystopian version of 2026, a year that became a cornerstone of the series’ complex mythology. By launching the full 100-episode run on Pluto TV now, the platform is leaning into that meta-connection, offering a nostalgic “sync-up” for viewers who have been waiting over a decade to reach this real-world milestone.
Viewers will be able to access the series in two ways on the Pluto TV app. For those who prefer a traditional “appointment viewing” experience, the show is expected to anchor a dedicated block on the Pluto TV Sci-Fi linear channel, potentially even receiving its own 24/7 “pop-up” channel. For the marathon-inclined, the entire saga will be available on-demand, allowing for a seamless binge from the pilot episode to the emotional series finale.
This addition is part of a massive 2026 content expansion for Pluto TV, which has aggressively moved to dominate the Free Ad-Supported Television (FAST) market. By bringing the Bishop family into the fold alongside heavyweights like The X-Files and Star Trek, Pluto TV is effectively building a “Digital Smithsonian” for classic science fiction.
