Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival Marks A New Chapter in Horror
Saber Interactive and Boss Team Games have revealed Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival, a single-player, first-person survival horror action game set for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
This marks the first major video game adaptation of the Hellraiser franchise, drawing players into the unsettling world created by horror icon Clive Barker. While no official release date has been confirmed just yet, the game is described as being “closer than you think,” with further details expected throughout 2025.
The game’s announcement, paired with a tense and gory new red band trailer (check it out below), introduces Aidan, a protagonist who must navigate the nightmarish Labyrinth to save his girlfriend, Sunny, using the mystical Genesis Configuration, a puzzle box central to the Hellraiser mythos.

Players will confront Cenobites, cultists, and other horrors with a combination of melee and ranged weapons, as well as the box’s supernatural powers. The story, inspired by the tone and themes of the first two Hellraiser films, offers a new narrative within the franchise’s universe, crafted to stay true to its lore.
Tim Willits, Chief Creative Officer at Saber Interactive, shared insights into the project with Playstation recently: “As lifelong fans of the legendary Hellraiser franchise, it’s been an honor to bring this terrifying universe to life in a way that is true to the franchise.”
Willits emphasized the team’s dedication, stating, “From the moment we started this journey, our team has poured every ounce of passion, creativity, and determination into crafting what we believe will be the definitive Hellraiser gaming experience.”
Willits also highlighted the involvement of Clive Barker himself: “Speaking of the story, we have been greatly privileged to consult with Clive Barker to make sure this new chapter in the Hellraiser storyline is authentic to the vision of his iconic Hellraiser films. Hellraiser stands as one of the most iconic horror franchises of all time, and we fully understand the legacy we’re stepping into.”

The game focuses on the franchise’s core themes, with Willits noting, “The Hellraiser universe is defined by its unflinching exploration of pain, pleasure, and the thin and terrifying line that separates the two. That essence is at the heart of our game.”
Nenad Tomic, the game’s Executive Producer provided further details in an Xbox Wire post: “Clive Barker has been deeply involved with the game from the very beginning. His guidance and intimate understanding of the Hellraiser universe have been instrumental in shaping every aspect of the experience. From the visual style and story motifs to the lore and character personalities, his creative input has ensured that the game remains authentic to the spirit of Hellraiser.”
Tomic clarified the game’s narrative approach: “The game is inspired by the first two Hellraiser movies, drawing from their atmosphere, themes, and mythos. However, its plot is not directly connected to the movies. Instead, it should be seen as a new story set within the Hellraiser universe.”
The game set to see Doug Bradley reprising his role as Pinhead, marking his first return to the character in nearly 20 years.

On the combat front, the game’s system will blend melee and ranged attacks with puzzle-solving elements tied to the Genesis Configuration, which serves as both a narrative driver and a gameplay mechanic. Dynamic environments will set the tone for players to face a series of procedurally generated encounters with Cenobites, including a multiplayer-inspired “Cenobite Challenge” mode, where players can test their skills against waves of enemies in a standalone arena.
The PC version will support ray tracing and 4K visuals.
The game’s atmosphere meanwhile aims to immerse players in the psychological and visceral horror of Hellraiser, with all the graphic body horror one might expect. Willits remarked, “We are embracing everything that makes Hellraiser unforgettable and weaving it into an experience designed to leave you shocked and exhilarated. Because let’s face it—what is a horror game if it doesn’t leave a mark on you, body and soul? We can’t wait to reveal more in 2025. Come with us, for we have such sights to show you!”
Fans can also anticipate two Collector’s Editions, including a Hellraiser Puzzle Box with a unique illumination effect, a statue, and other licensed collectibles, available for pre-order.
