THEA CAMARA JOINS HOLIDAY ROM-COM ‘MERRY SWITCHMAS’ ON BET+
Chicago actor Thea Camara stars as Mrs. Bailee Baxter, a hot-headed matriarch whose slippery past spills into the family’s Christmas shenanigans in Merry Switchmas, set to release nationwide December 9, 2021, on BET+.
The festive movie revolves around a classic “switcheroo,” in which a pair of twins decide to trade places for an evening at a family holiday party. Camara takes on the role of Bailee, mother of the twins who also happens to be the ex-college-girlfriend of her kid’s girlfriend’s father.
With their boyfriends, a feisty great-aunt, and others tangled in their charade, the sisters end up finding out more about their family and themselves before the night ends. But the real question is whether the sisters can eventually make things right with their family and boyfriends when the truth comes out.
Merry Switchmas also stars Valarie Pettiford (Half and Half) and Peter Parros (Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots) in addition to Rachel Aladdin, Rebekah Aladdin, Joseph Harold, and Joel Harold.
The movie was written by Gabrielle Collins (Love in an Instant), directed by Chris Nolen (The Good Life, Four Seasons), and executive produced by Savoy Brummer (It Comes) and Maureen Guthman (Karen).
Thea Camara has been working in the industry for over a decade and has appeared in scores of television and film projects. Some of her most recent work includes FOX’s 911, Chicago Med, and Mindhunter.
“It was wonderful working in my home town again. Director Christopher A. Nolen was great to work with, along with a talented cast and crew. We had a lot of fun,” Ms. Camara adds.
