The world’s favorite heartwarming comedy (move over Schitt’s Creek) has an official return date.
Ted Lasso, and kindness, apparently, is making a global comeback on Friday, July 23 on Apple TV+.
The Jason Sudeikis-starring comedy will see Ted and Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) attempting a phoenix-like rise from the ashes following AFC Richmond’s heartbreaking relegation at the end of the first season.
However, as the team continues to perform … shall we say unspectacularly, the gang begin to wonder if a sports psychologist might be able to help turn their fortunes around. Enter Sharon, played by I May Destroy You’s Sarah Niles, an unsmiling by-the-book character who appears to dislike both Ted … and sugar.
That probably tells you all you need to know.
The series which has already been renewed for season 3 by the streaming giant, has won multiple awards including sweeping every category it was nominated in at the 2021 Critics Choice Awards, in addition to securing wins for Best Comedy Series, Best Actor for Jason Sudeikis and Best Supporting Actress for Hannah Waddingham.
The series follows Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer. But as the players and club manager soon discover Ted is of the “it’s not whether you win, but how you play the game” mentality – a philosophy that he follows both on and off the football pitch.
The complete first season of Ted Lasso is currently available on Apple TV+ on the Apple TV app. Do yourself a favor and go check it out.
