FOX’s freshman crime drama Murder in a Small Town will return for season 2, the Network revealed today.

The show will return as part of the 2025-26 broadcast season.

The series, which stars Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk, is based on the Alberg and Cassandra Mysteries, a series of B.C.-set crime novels by the author L. R. Wright.

The series follows a world-weary police detective (Sutherland) who takes on the role of Chief of Police in the small coastal town of Gibsons.

After striking up a romantic relationship with town librarian Cassandra Lee (Kreuk), Alberg finds himself at odds with how to balance his keen policing instincts against the gentle pace of Gibsons.

However, when a spate of murders sweeps over the town, its inhabitants benefit from a blend of Alberg’s insight, and Cassandra’s local knowledge and good heart.

“We look forward to giving fans a second season of Karl Alberg’s unmatched expertise as a crime solver in Murder in a Small Town,” EVP of Drama Programming & Development Brooke Bowman said in a statement.

“We’ve enjoyed a terrific partnership with [producers] Sepia and Future Shack and our incredibly talented cast and crew and can’t wait to see what’s in store for our characters next season.”

The series also stars Mya Lowe as Corporal Edwina Yen, Aaron Douglas as Sergeant Sid Sokolowski, Fritzy-Klevans Destine as Constable Andy Kendrick, Savonna Spracklin as Isabella Harbud, Fiona Vroom as Phyllis Diaz, and Dakota Guppy as Holly Alberg.
