Summer TV drama is a little thin on the ground for HBO Max this year. (You’re supposed to be playing outside with the other kids, don’t you know?)
The streamer welcomes the return of The Gilded Age, along with a collection of movie premieres and documentary fare sharing their debuts on the platform this month.

CLEANER

Set in present-day London, a group of radical activists take over an energy company’s annual gala, seizing 300 hostages in order to expose the corruption of the hosts. Their just cause is hijacked by an extremist within their ranks, who is ready to murder everyone in the building to send his anarchic message to the world.
It falls to an ex-soldier turned window cleaner, played by Ridley, suspended 50 stories up on the outside of the building, to save those trapped inside, including her younger brother.

A darkly gripping series, THE MORTICIAN chronicles a trusted family-owned funeral home that hid behind a façade of decency and propriety to take advantage of loved ones at their most vulnerable moments. In the early 1980s, David Sconce, scion of the Lamb family, took over the family business and sought to exploit the deceased in numerous ways to expand their earnings. Driven by profit, the Lamb Funeral Home in Pasadena, California engaged in years of morally questionable and inhumane practices.

ENIGMA

Exploring transgender identity and legacy and chronicling the divergent paths of iconic pioneers April Ashley, Amanda Lear, and others, acclaimed filmmaker Zackary Drucker explores questions of identity and survival, revealing the disparate but intertwined stories of women whose lives helped shape trans culture and history.
Their experiences, varied and complex, highlight the costs associated with living their truths and explore what is gained and lost by defining their identities.
The film had its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.

MY MOM JAYNE
