Bones star Emily Deschanel Deschanel has landed the lead role in a brand new pilot for NBC. The as yet untitled drama is written by The Brave creator Dean Georgaris and Davis Entertainment President John Fox.
The news comes a day after Deschanel’s Bones co-star Davod Boreanaz snagged the lead in The Rockford Files reboot, also for NBC. Should both pilots be picked up to series, the move will mark the first time both actors have appeared on the same Network in almost 10 years.
Per Deadline, Deschanel’s pilot is inspired by the work of expert profiler and author Dr. Ann Burgess, who was the subject of a 2024 Hulu docuseries titled Mastermind: To Think Like a Killer.
Should the pilot be picked up to series it will focus on Professor Georgia Ryan (Deschanel), a trailblazing psychologist who challenges the field of criminology by shifting the investigative focus to the victim rather than just the perpetrator in order to uncover the crucial clues that more traditional methods leave behind.
Alongside her team, this trailblazing expert consults with the FBI to solve its most baffling and elusive cases.
Deschanel is most famous for her role as Doctor Temperance Brennan, a brilliant forensic anthropologist, on FOX’s long-running drama series Bones. Other recent credits include Animal Kingdom, and Devil in Ohio.
More as we have it.
