Diany Rodriguez (The Outsider, Ray Donovan) is set to join the cast of NBC’s upcoming ninth season of The Blacklist in a heavily recurring role.
Rodriguez will play Weecha Xiu, who is described as having a tough physical presence and a hardened demeanor. Weecha is more than capable of defending herself against anyone who might threaten her or her associates, according to the loglines for her character.
Season 9 of the long-running crime thriller will see a two year time jump from the shocking events of last season’s finale, in which series star Megan Boone left the show when her character Liz Keen was gunned down by enemies of Raymond Reddington (James Spader).
The season ahead finds the members of Liz Keen’s special FBI task force disbanded, with their lives changed in unexpected ways, and the whereabouts of Red unknown.
However, the shattered team is brought back together when a common purpose compels them to renew their original mission: to take down dangerous, vicious and eccentric Blacklisters.
In the process, they begin to uncover lethal adversaries, unimaginable conspiracies and surprising betrayals that will threaten alliances and spur vengeance for the past, led by the most devious criminal of them all – Raymond Reddington.
The Blacklist also stars Diego Klattenhoff, Amir Arison, Hisham Tawfiq, Laura Sohn and Harry Lennix.
The Season 9 premiere, “The Skinner” airs Thursday, Oct. 21 (8:00 pm – 9:00 pm ET/PT) on NBC.
