CBS has officially greenlit a second season of its latest procedural drama, CIA.
The renewal comes just weeks after the series premiere, with the Network citing the show’s early performance metrics and time-slot dominance as key factors in the decision to renew.
According to Nielsen Panel+ Big Data, the series premiere reached 8.4 million multi-platform viewers within its first seven days of availability across broadcast and streaming.
Through its first three episodes, the series improved its time-slot average by 39% compared to the network’s fall programming in the same period. The drama has consistently won its hour against direct competition, including ABC’s The Rookie and NBC’s The Voice.
The series follows the professional and personal friction between FBI Special Agent Bill Goodman, played by Nick Gehlfuss, and CIA Agent Colin Glass, played by Tom Ellis. The narrative centers on a joint task force operating in New York City, focused on clandestine operations and international security threats.
CIA is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment and CBS Studios.
CIA will continue to air in its current Monday night slot on the CBS and is available for streaming on Paramount+.
