The critically acclaimed Star Wars spin-off series Andor has an official season 2 premiere date — although you mightn’t know it from Disney+’s US press corps.

In fact, the news broke over the weekend from the D23 Expo in Brazil no less, where the streamer announced the series will premiere April 22, 2025 on the streaming platform.

The news comes some two years after Season one aired.

The series, which scored an approval rating of 96% with an average rating of 8.55/10 on Rotten Tomatoes, explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s (Diego Luna) journey to discover the difference he can make.

Set before the evernts of the Rogue One movie, Andor tells the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

Season one starred Diego Luna, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Fiona Shaw, among others.

The series was nominated for eight Primetime Emmys including Outstanding Drama Series.

“This second part will follow Cassian over the period of four years as he grows into the hero we see make the ultimate sacrifice in Rogue One,” Luna, who was present at the event, explained.

Ben Mendelsohn is set reprise his villainous Rogue One role as Orson Krennic. Forrest Whitaker will return as as Saw Gerrera. Alan Tudyk (K-2SO from the original film), will join the cast, along with Benjamin Bratt (in as yet undisclosed role) in the second season.
