Aaron Korsh’s Suits-adjacent legal drama now has a name, some loglines, and a pilot order commitment from NBC.

Korsh, who wrote and executive produced the long-running USA Network drama Suits, has been teasing the possibility a new series set in the same universe as its predecessor, but not a direct spin-off, for some time now.

Now, NBC has confirmed a pilot order for Suits L.A. from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, which will be written and executive produced by Korsh, along with writers and executive producers David Bartis and Doug Liman of Hypnotic.

Laura Mahoney is set to direct the pilot.

Suits L.A. will introduce Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, who has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles.

Ted’s firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives.

All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.

Production on Suits L.A. is scheduled to start in late March in Vancouver.
