Tensions hit an all time high for Jay (Jesse Lee Soffer) in tonight’s Chicago P.D. Fall Finale.

The episode, “A Way Out” sees Halstead considering his options following Special Agent North’s uncovering of Roy Walton’s body.

After a brief recap, North reminds Jay of his choices: Either help him take down Voight (Jason Beghe), or he’ll arrest both Hailey (Tracy Spiridakos) and Jay for Walton’s murder.

With just 36 hours to make his decision, the finale plays out a tense countdown against the clock as Jay struggles with his impossible choice, all while trying to keep Hailey out of the loop.

Jay’s ruminations are cut short however by a complicated case that proves hard to untangle. Abduction? Sex trafficking? Or is the victim hiding something? Trying to put together the puzzle pieces of this particular case only serves to add to the mounting tension this week.

Meanwhile, the ever prescient Voight decides to take matters into his own hands in order to silence North for good.

However, his plan, involving the setting up of an unpleasant sting, leaves a bitter taste in Jay’s mouth. As Jay questions if he can really go through with it, he realizes he has a hard choice to make by the hour’s end.

With even Voight wondering if he has gone too far, the finale will see lines drawn, and Jay’s relationship with both Hailey and Voight forever altered in a surprising way.

The “A Way Out” episode of Chicago P.D. airs Wednesday, Dec. 8 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) on NBC.
