IS STARFIELD HEADING TO PLAYSTATION THIS APRIL?
Speculation is once again swirling around Bethesda’s Starfield, with a new report claiming the sci-fi RPG may finally be headed to PlayStation 5, and sooner than some might expect.
According to a report from Polish outlet PPE.pl, which claims to have obtained internal documentation from a video game distributor, Starfield is allegedly scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 in April 2026. The report suggests the game would be available in both Standard and Premium editions, mirroring the release structure seen on other platforms.
While neither Bethesda nor Microsoft has confirmed the information, the rumor has gained traction this week, in part because PPE’s sources have previously surfaced accurate distributor-level details (though they have also been wrong on occasion). As such, the report should be treated as unconfirmed until an official announcement is made.
Adding to the intrigue is speculation that the PS5 release could coincide with a substantial update often referred to as Starfield 2.0. While details remain vague, the update is rumored to be a major overhaul aimed at addressing long-standing player feedback, potentially including gameplay refinements, quality-of-life improvements, and broader system updates. If true, bundling such an update with a PlayStation launch would position the PS5 version as a more polished and feature-complete edition of the game.
Originally released in September 2023 for Xbox Series X|S and PC, Starfield marked Bethesda Game Studios’ first new IP in decades. Although it launched as a console exclusive within the Xbox ecosystem, Microsoft’s evolving multiplatform strategy has fueled ongoing speculation about additional platform releases — speculation that has intensified following recent Xbox titles making the jump to PlayStation hardware.
At present, no official confirmation exists regarding a PS5 version of Starfield or the existence of a “2.0” update. Until Bethesda or Microsoft comments publicly, the April 2026 release window remains firmly in the realm of rumor.
Still, if accurate, the report could signal a significant new chapter for Starfield, chiefly one that brings the game to a broader audience, alongside meaningful updates aimed at redefining its long-term future.
