Fans of 11 Bit Studios’ The Alters have cause for excitement.
Alex Jordan, who voices Jan Dolski along with his many incarnations in the game, has revealed on X that a DLC is officially in the works for the psychological survival/strategy sim.
In a post on X Jordan said “We’re back in the booth… who’s up for some DLC for The Alters? 2026 #TheAlters”, confirming more content is ahead.
The announcement, though brief, gives the first official word that the game’s universe will expand beyond its initial launch in June 2025. While 11 bit studios has not yet shared formal details about the DLC’s content, scope or specific release date, the year “2026” gives hope we might see something in the coming months.
The Alters follows Project Dolly grunt Jan Dolski who finds himself stranded on a hostile planet after his crew dies. Facing certain death, Dolski creates alters of himself — clones of sorts — each with a unique set of skills, and plucked from specific moments in alternate timelines. But with radically different experiences and critical life decisions altering how each Jan perceives his place and predicament in Jan’s crew, getting off world alive is no guarantee.
TV Pulse magazine praised The Alters as a cohesive blend of exploration, survival, and base-building, wrapped in a thoughtful exploration of the human condition, saying “The Alters is a complex, deeply original (emotional and stressful in turns) slice of sci-fi gaming deserving of its accolades.”
Fans wondering where the new DLC might take Jan and his Jans have reason to speculate, based on the game’s several alternte endings, and which Alters they chose to create in-game. Can we expect new Alters? Fresh story arcs? Extended survival mechanics, or perhaps even all of the above?
The Alters was recently nominated for Best Sim/Strategy award in this year’s Game Awards, with voting open until December 10, 2025, at 6:00 PM PST.
For now, fans should keep an eye on Jordan’s feed and the official studio channels for more hints. In the meantime, this social-media drop marks a firm yes: the world of The Alters is returning. Jan Dolski, along with Jan, Jan, Jan, Jan, Jan and even more Jans, will be back.
