The TV Gods have heard our prayers.

We love FOX’s Murder in a Small Town, but have been hoping the show would skew a little darker for some time now. Finally, with Tuesday’s next episode, our dark wishes have come true.

“Family Matters” sees Gibson reeling after a woman’s body is found in the woods, posed in an unusual fashion, and for once the audience is not privy to who’s behind it.

In fact, over the course of a tricky hour we are subtly presented with a series of characters (some of whom we are already familiar with from previous episodes, fyi) as potential suspects.

Could it be the toxic boyfriend of one of Holly’s friends? Or the retired boxer who runs the local gym? The school’s art teacher Mr Cummins is also acting a little creepy for our liking, and while we’re at it, local actor Roger Galbraith is not acting like himself. Or is he?

Gibson’s shock soon turns to panic when a second body turns up, complicating an already tense investigation, and leading Alberg and the crew to face the reality of a serial killer in their midst.

Murder in a Small Town is one of those shows where the audience can generally guess who’s behind this week’s dastardliness, and often straight off the bat. However, this next episode honestly has us stumped.

Prepare to snap on the latex gloves and settle in for the long haul, as this is not a case that’s not going to be solved in one episode.

Murder in a Small Town stars Rossif Sutherland as Karl Alberg, and Kristin Kreuk as Cassandra Lee.

Recurring guest cast includes Mya Lowe as Corporal Edwina Yen, Aaron Douglas as Sergeant Sid Sokolowski, Fritzy-Klevans Destine as Constable Andy Kendrick, Savonna Spracklin as Isabella Harbud, Fiona Vroom as Phyllis Diaz, and Dakota Guppy as Holly Alberg.

Guest cast in “Family Matters” includes Noah Reid as Tommy Cummins, Lucas Bryant as Roger Galbraith, Gardiner Milllar as Callum Hingle, Liza Huget as Mary Hingle, Tammy Gillis as Bronwen Travis, and Alisha Newton as Devon Travis.

Catch it Tuesday, Nov 19 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
