STARZ has officially secured the development rights to the acclaimed supernatural crime graphic novel Bone Parish, emerging victorious following a highly competitive multi-network bidding war.

The high-profile acquisition marks a strategic win for STARZ as it continues to aggressively build out a slate of wholly owned original programming. It also significantly strengthens the network’s powerhouse, long-running partnership with executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and his G-Unit Film & Television banner.

A formidable creative team has been assembled to bring the comic’s dark world to life. Diane Ademu-John (Dune: Prophecy) and Declan de Barra (The Witcher: Blood Origin) are locked in to serve as executive producers and co-showrunners on the series adaptation.

Set against the atmospheric backdrop of New Orleans, Bone Parish, originally created by Cullen Bunn and Jonas Scharf, follows the Winters family, whose rising criminal empire is fueled by a terrifyingly unique product. They have tapped into a mysterious, highly addictive new drug crafted from the literal ashes of the dead, which grants users vivid, haunting visions of the deceased’s past. As the drug takes the streets by storm, the family must defend their turf as rival cartels, street factions, and supernatural forces all converge on the Big Easy. The series is positioned as a high-concept genre story that seamlessly blends the grit of organized crime with visceral horror and deep family drama.

For STARZ and Jackson, Bone Parish represents the latest chapter in one of premium cable’s most lucrative creative alliances. Jackson’s massive television portfolio at the network already includes the sprawling Power universe, the upcoming expansions Power: Origins and Power: Legacy, and the highly anticipated crime drama Fightland.

With its unique premise and heavy-hitting creative lineup, Bone Parish is poised to be a centerpiece of STARZ’s next wave of original premium content.
