Did you know ABC’s High Potential is the first Broadcast show to return for the 2025/26 TV slate?

The light-hearted crime drama wrapped its first season finale back in February with more than a bit of a cliffhanger. The hour saw an anonymous tip to the LAPD sparking an unusual multiple-victim kidnapping investigation which forced the team to rely on board games and puzzles to track down their suspect.

However by the episode’s end no culprit was found. It wasn’t until Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) returned from a grocery shopping trip with her children — in which she was briefly helped by a handsome man in the form of A Million Little Things’ David Giuntoli — that she realized the person who had helped her was in fact the perpetrator. With Giuntoli as such a prominent casting choice, it’s clear ABC intends to return to this storyline in Season 2.

Also of note last season was Morgan’s long-running to-and-fro with Gio Conforth, a black market dealer who knew and worked with Roman before his disappearance. The finale saw Morgan’s partner Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) putting some pieces together on that front.

Viewers learned that before he disappeared, Roman was working for a woman named Lyla. Karadec discovered that Lyla was an FBI agent who died around the same time that Roman disappeared, and subsequently that Roman working for her as an informant. The finale ends with Morgan getting a call from Karadec stating he knows where Roman is.

With the show returning on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025, fans don’t have all that long to wait for answers to at least some of our most pressing questions. As I write, some Broadcast Networks are already revealing loglines and synopses for returning dramas this fall. While details on the new premiere can’t be that far behind, we’ve got a collection of Season 2 cast photos to share to tide you over until then.

Note the addition of actor Steve Howey who joins the cast this year as the new precinct Captain, Jesse Wagner. Eagle-eyed fans may recognize Howey from his roles in shows like Shameless, Reba, and True Lies.

Wagner is described as a savvy political animal who knows how to wear an expensive suit and oozes effortless charm. Besides being a guy who can launch a million fundraisers with his smile, Wagner has disruptor tenacity and likes thinking outside the box just like our all-star consultant Morgan. He has a way of putting himself right in the middle of the action… whether he’s wanted there or not.

In addition to Olson, Sunjata, and Howey Season 2 will see the return of series regulars Javicia Leslie as Daphne, Deniz Akdeniz as Lev “Oz” Ozdil, Judy Reyes as Selena, Amirah J as Ava, and Matthew Lamb as Elliot.
