MARTIN CLUNES GUESTS
Before Best Medicine came Doc Martin, the British counterpart to Fox’s new comedy that focuses on an irascible doctor struggling to fit in among new neighbors while hiding a debilitating phobia.
The original series ran from 2004 to 2022 and starred Martin Clunes in the title role as “Doc” Martin Ellingham.
In a nod to the original series, US adaptation Best Medicine will see original grumpy doc Clunes guest starring in the show’s March 3 episode, aptly titled “Doc Martin”.
Clunes takes on the role of Dr. Robert Best, father of Dr. Martin Best (Josh Charles) whose abraisive personality makes Martin appear almost cuddly.
The hour sees Martin’s parents making a surprise visit. However when Robert blindsides his sister Sarah with some infuriating news, Martin begins to suspect he is experiencing a serious health condition.
Meanwhile, while trying to avoid the school’s forthcoming closure amidst its annual Spirit Week sleepover, Louisa is made acting principal and Martin and Robert must operate together on Mark.
The “Doc Martin” episode of Best Medicine airs Tuesday, Mar 3 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT on FOX.
