From the Television Critics Association Winter 2021 Press Tour, comes the news that The Mosquito Coast, a new 7 episode drama series based on the best-selling novel of the same name, will premiere globally with the first two episodes on Friday, April 30, followed by new episodes every Friday on Apple TV+.
The news was unveiled along with a first look at the Apple Original series over the weekend.
The series is from award-winning novelist Neil Cross, and based on the best-selling book by Paul Theroux which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
Described as a gripping adventure and layered character drama following the dangerous journey of a radical idealist and brilliant inventor, the series sees Allie Fox (played by Justin Theroux), uprooting his family for Mexico when they suddenly find themselves on the run from the US government.
In addition to Theroux, the series also stars Melissa George as Margot Fox, Logan Polish as Dina Fox, and Gabriel Bateman as Charlie Fox.
The seven-episode series is created for television and executive produced by Neil Cross. Also executive producing are Rupert Wyatt, who directs the first two episodes, author Paul Theroux, star Justin Theroux and Edward L. McDonnell.
Alan Gasmer, Peter Jaysen and Bob Bookman also serve as executive producers for Veritas Entertainment Group.
Developed by Neil Cross and Tom Bissell, The Mosquito Coast is a Fremantle Production for Apple TV+.
