The Last of Us will officially return to our screens this April.
That’s according to the latest remarks from game and show writer and EP Neil Druckmann, who made the announcement late yesterday at Sony’s press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES®).
As with Season 1, the show will be available on HBO, and available to stream on MAX.
The season ahead is set to loosely follow the events of The Last of Us 2 video game, and is set five years after the events of the first season. HBO teases that Joel and Ellie will be drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.
Returning for Season 2 are Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria.
Previously announced new cast includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac.
Catherine O’Hara also guest stars in a somewhat mysterious role.
Based on Naughty Dog’s video game franchise of the same name, The Last of Us is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.
The series is a co-production with Sony Pictures Television and is also executive produced by Carolyn Strauss, Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, and Evan Wells, with writer/co-executive producer Halley Gross.
The Last of Us is from PlayStation Productions, Word Games, Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog.
