HBO’s upcoming Games of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon has begun production.
The news came via the show’s official Twitter today, with photos of the announced cast during a table read.
The first 10-episode season of the new series, set some 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, will focus on Daenerys Targaryen’s ancestors, and the beginning of the fall of House Targaryen.
The series will see Doctor Who’s Matt Smith taking on the role of Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon aka The Sea Snake, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Rhys Ifans as Hand of the King, Otto Hightower.
The HBO series will come to HBOMax in 2022.
