The streets of 1930s New York are about to get a lot darker, and audiences are being given a unique choice in how they witness the gloom.

At a panel during CCXPMX26 in Mexico City this weekend, Prime Video officially unveiled the trailer for Spider-Noir, a live-action series that marks the first leading television role for Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage.

In this iteration of the Marvel mythos, Cage portrays Ben Reilly, a seasoned and down-on-his-luck private investigator navigating the gritty landscape of the Great Depression. Unlike the more traditional depictions of the web-slinger, this Reilly is a man haunted by his past and a deeply personal tragedy, forced to balance his cynical worldview with his responsibilities as the city’s only superhero.

To lean into the hard-boiled detective aesthetic of the era, the producers announced a unique viewing feature where audiences can choose to stream the series in either authentic black and white or true-hue full color.

The production brings together the team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Developed by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, Spider Noir was produced in collaboration with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Harry Bradbeer, the Emmy-winning director behind Fleabag, helmed the first two episodes to establish the show’s distinct tone.

The ensemble cast supporting Cage ifeatures Emmy winner Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Jack Huston, Karen Rodriguez, and the veteran actor Brendan Gleeson.

During the Mexico City event, the cast and creators introduced an extended scene that offered a first look at the stakes and immersive world-building of the series.

Spider-Noir is produced by Sony Pictures Television and is scheduled to debut on the MGM+ linear channel on May 25, 2026, before its global release on Prime Video on May 27, 2026.
