In what is perhaps an unsurprising move, Netflix has renewed Bridgerton, its most successful show, for a third and forth season, ahead of airing season 2.
With over 82 million views, the racy period romance from Shonda Rhimes, has surpassed other massively popular shows including The Witcher and The Queen’s Gambit.
The news came via a new society paper missive from Lady Whistledown, who is voiced by screen legend Julie Andrews, and is the pen-name of Nicola Coughlan’s Penelope Featherington in the series.
Writing to “Esteemed members of the Ton [sic]” Lady Whistledown teased “It seems we have a rather special announcement,” before revealing “Bridgerton shall return for seasons 3 and 4.”
The author then quipped “This author shall have to purchase more ink.”
The announcement comes following Bridgerton’s renewal for season 2, and the news that breakout star Regé-Jean Page would not be a part of the show’s storyline going forward.
Page recently boarded Netflix’s action thriller The Gray Man, an adaptation of the debut novel by Mark Greaney, in which freelance assassin and former CIA operative Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling) is hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former cohort of Gentry’s at the CIA.
