March 2025 is shaping up as a solid month for Xbox gamers, with a mix of big releases like Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Split Fiction, alongside Game Pass gems like Atomfall and 33 Immortals.

Departures will sting, as always, but the exact losses are still pending announcement. Keep an eye out for Microsoft’s next Game Pass update for a fuller picture of the ecosystem.

As is the norm, Microsoft typically announces two waves of Game Pass titles each month, so we can expect more reveals soon (look for updates here), but likely within the next week or so for the first half of March. Rumors suggest additional indie titles or shadow drops could join, given recent trends like open-world survival shooter Deadside being shadow-dropped recently.

Other notable Arrivals

Indie highlights from sources like Pure Xbox include a slew of games from the ID@Xbox Showcase, such as Balatro (already on Game Pass as of late February) and Buckshot Roulette (Game Pass-bound, though exact March timing is unclear).

Dungeons of Hinterberg, previously on Xbox, hits PS5 this month but remains a notable title in the Xbox ecosystem from 2024.

Leaving Xbox Game Pass

At least eight titles are set to leave Xbox Game Pass by March 15, though we can expect more titles to trickle in over the month. Historically, Microsoft announces these in batches, with the first wave often detailed early in the month (see below), and another at month’s end (March 31).

Titles from earlier 2024 or late 2023 additions are prime candidates, especially those not owned by Microsoft first-party studios.

Rumor suggests some fan-favorite titles are among those departing in Microsoft’s second wave of cutting. Those games affected could include heavy hitters from prior months like Fallout 4 or even Sea of Thieves if their licensing terms are up.

March 15: The first wave of departures includes Evil West, Lies of P, MLB The Show 24, No More Heroes 3, Solar Ash, Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated, Yakuza 5 Remastered, and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.

Sales and Discounts

Red Dead Redemption 2

A new Xbox sale kicked off March 4, offering big discounts on titles like Grand Theft Auto V, Forza Horizon 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Meanwhile, some games boast 90% discounts on the Xbox Store to start the month.

Industry Buzz

The Game Developers Conference (GDC 2025, March 17-21) will feature a strong Xbox presence, potentially revealing more titles or updates.

Microsoft’s push to “expand Xbox to any screen” could hint at cloud gaming boosts for March releases.

More as we have it.
