Warhorse Studio’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 just set a pretty impressive record.
The epic open-world action role-playing game has sold over 1 million copies in its first 24 hours of release. (For reference, 2018’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 sold 500 thousand copies in two days, and 2 million over the course of its first year.)
“Over a million of you have stepped into our world. We’re beyond grateful for your support – thank you for making #KCD2 a triumph!” announced the developer on X.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 sees players step back into the boots of Henry of Skalitz, the humble blacksmith’s son of the first game, now knight in the service of his real father, Sir Radzig Kobyla, and bodyguard to the somewhat insufferable Sir Hans Capon.
When Henry, Hans, and a small entourage set out to deliver a crucial letter to Otto von Bergow, an ally of Sigismund, enquiring as to Von Bergow’s allegiance, they find themselves unexpectedly ambushed and the letter stolen.
Now without coin, armor, friends, food, or even a means to prove his identity and purpose, Henry must learn to survive, fight, and find allies in Bohemia’s turbulent political landscape.
TVPulse Magazine called the game “one of the most ambitious and immersive medieval RPGs ever made” in their review, adding “Warhorse Studios has spent the years since the release of Kingdom Come 1 listening to their fans, improving and perfecting their art, and choosing substance over stylish in-game gimmicks. The result is an uplifting, rewarding, and deeply satisfying experience that shows just what is possible from a dedicated team with a strong vision for what a video game ought to be.”
The sequel has been a critical success for Warhorse, with sales only expected to rise based on initial estimates.
