Grand Theft Auto VI’s release date is on the move … again.

The highly-anticipated new chapter in the franchise from Rockstar Games is now set to arrive late 2026. The game, which has been under development for almost a decade will hit shelves on November 19, 2026, according to the studio.

Originally, Rockstar announced that GTA VI would release sometime in 2025, with a window that fell in the fall. However in May the publisher’s parent company, Take‑Two Interactive, officially confirmed a more likely release date of May 26, 2026.

With the date now pushed to late November this latest reset likely gives Rockstar additional time to polish the game, address technical and narrative ambitions, and ensure a high-quality launch. For fans the wait continues, along with the hope for a game that meets and perhaps even exceeds the monumental hype built around this franchise in recent months.

“We are sorry for adding additional time to what we realize has been a long wait, but these extra months will allow us to finish the game with the level of polish you have come to expect and deserve,” Rockstar said in a statement today. “We want to thank you again for your patience and support. While the wait is a little longer, we are incredibly excited for players to experience the sprawling state of Leonida and a return to modern day Vice City.”

GTA VI Latest: Rockstar Resets Release Date to November 26 is set in the fictional state of Leonida (inspired by Florida), and includes GTA 4’s iconic locale of Vice City. Two protagonists are confirmed: a male character Jason Duval and a female protagonist Lucia Caminos, marking a new chapter in the series’ narrative structure.

Rockstar and Take-Two are anticipating this launch being not just a major game event, but one of the largest entertainment events in years.

Rockstar meanwhile are continuing production on the Max Payne remakes, in collaboration with Remedy Entertainment.
