Following a storm of leaks, hints, and speculation, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered finally launches today, bringing Cyrodiil back in all its stunning glory.

Bethesda Game Studios announced the “shadow drop” release today, with a livestream announcement and an official reveal trailer. Developed in collaboration with Virtuos, using Unreal Engine 5, the game is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.

Oblivion boasts a complete visual overhaul with high-resolution textures, enhanced lighting, and detailed environments powered by Unreal Engine 5. The game also includes both major expansions, Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine, along with additional downloadable content, ensuring players get the full Oblivion experience.

The install size is a hefty 119.2 GB on PC, a massive leap from the original’s 4.6 GB, reflecting the graphical upgrades.

The game will set you back $49.99 / €54.99 in North America and Europe, with a Deluxe Edition priced at $59.99 / €64.99.

The Deluxe Edition includes Akatosh Armor Sets and Weapons, Mehrunes Dagon Armor Sets and Weapons, and a Digital Artbook and Soundtrack App.

For Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, the game is available at no extra cost, making it an easy dive back into Tamriel. PlayStation 5 players also get to join the adventure, a pleasant surprise given Bethesda’s Xbox affiliation.

First released in 2006 for Xbox 360, PC, and later PlayStation 3, Oblivion redefined open-world RPGs with its sprawling province of Cyrodiil, seemingly limitless side quests, and a slew of quirky and memorable characters. Selling over 3 million copies by 2007, it set the stage for the iconic Skyrim.

The road to Oblivion Remastered was paved with leaks, from court documents during Microsoft’s Activision case to screenshots accidentally posted by Virtuos. Just yesterday, the game’s Steam page and file size surfaced, and Xbox Support reportedly confirmed its release date to curious fans.

Bethesda leaned into the hype, teasing the reveal with cryptic social media posts featuring the Roman numeral “IV” and a warrior’s eye, culminating in today’s livestream at 11 AM ET. The announcement was paired with a gameplay deep dive, featuring voice actor Wes Johnson (Sheogorath) marveling at the remaster’s upgrades.
