As fans are aware, Kojima Productions plan to birth their sequel to Death Stranding early next year.

Today, Hideo Kojima unveiled an expansive new teaser trailer (running at 9.40 minutes), during Playstation’s State of Play livestream.

Titled Death Stranding: On the Beach, fans were teased with more Sam, Lou, and Fragile, in addition to some sweeping new vistas players will be able to explore once the game lands, and of course the return of a fan-favorite villain. Hello again, Troy Baker! We’ve missed you.

In typical Kojima style, we’ve got some really off the reservation moments including a tiny puppet played by Fatih Akin (yes, we were as surprised as everyone else to learn it looks just like Alan Wake, whose likeness appears to be taking over the internet one game series at a time as part of the Great Alan Wakening of All Things), a giant robot baby who is possibly Lou, and a guitar that shoots lightning at said giant robot baby.

There is so much to unpack over almost 10 generous minutes, but catch it for yourself in all its full and glorious weirdness below.

In addition, Kojima Productions also announced a new project PHYSINT, a joint collaboration with Sony described as a next-generation action-espionage game.

Referring to PHYSINT “the culmination of my work” after four decades of working in games, Kojima promises the project will “transcend the barriers between games and movies” and we don’t doubt him.
