Prime Video used its Hall H slot at San Diego Comic-Con today to introduce Blade Runner 2099, bringing stars Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer to the stage alongside showrunner Silka Luisa and executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson in front of a crowd of more than 6,500.
The limited series, set fifty years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, will premiere all eight episodes on November 25 in more than 240 countries and territories on Prime Video.
The story follows a rebuilt Los Angeles — one no longer shaped by humanity — where a fugitive named Cora takes on the identity of a Blade Runner in an attempt to stop running for good. She’s paired with Olwen, a Replicant with days left to live, and the two set out to track down a runaway whose secret threatens to unravel the city.
Yeoh and Schafer lead the cast as series regulars, joined by Dimitri Abold (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) and Lewis Gribben (Somewhere Boy). The recurring guest cast includes Katelyn Rose Downey (The Nun II), Daniel Rigby (Renegade Nell), Johnny Harris (A Gentleman in Moscow), Amy Lennox (Only Child), Sheila Atim (The Woman King), Matthew Needham (House of the Dragon), Tom Burke (Furiosa), and Maurizio Lombardi (Ripley).
Luisa serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Ridley Scott, Alcon Entertainment co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson, Alcon’s President of Television Ben Roberts, and Scott Free Productions’ David W. Zucker and Clayton Krueger also producing. Tom Spezialy, Richard Sharkey, Michael Green, Cynthia Yorkin, Frank Giustra, and Isa Dick Hackett round out the executive producer roster. Jonathan van Tulleken (Shogun) is an executive producer and directed the series’ first two episodes, with Steven Johnson serving as co-executive producer.
